Substrates to be coated have to be firm, dry and load bearing, free of loose and brittle particles and substances which impair adhesion such as oil, grease, rubber skid marks, paint or other contaminants. A concrete sub-base must contain a moisture barrier (damp proof membrane D.P.M.). The moisture level must not exceed 4%. The bond strength of the substrate must be at least 1.0 N/mm2. The temperature of the substrate must be at least 3°C above the current dew point temperature. DIN 18202 2005-10 Table 3, line 4 is referenced in regards to the flatness of the subfloor before the application.

The HG range has an extensive life expectancy and can be re-topped and/or repaired which reduces costs in terms of replacing with new materials. This may also reduce the environmental burden throughout the lifetime of the flooring systems as less resources and energy will be required.

Once installed, with the help of the point-elastic properties, it is expected that these floors will reduce the strain on the musculoskeletal system of sportsmen as well as reducing the risk of injuries through force reduction, sliding properties and the evenness of the floor.

There are also low VOC-emissions during the in-use phase as immediate evaporation occurs after the application phase.




The flooring reduces impact forces and therefore reduce the risk of injury. The properties of the flooring also reduce the stress on joints.

Indoor Environment Quality

When cured, VOC contact after 28 days for CONIPUR HG pure/CONIPUR HG protect+ 9+2mm: 106󠅪µg/m3 up to CONIPUR HG 14+3mm 360g/m3. Carcinogens are in quantities of less than 1µg/m3, while formaldehyde is less than or equal to 3µg/m3 After application, VOC emissions are reduced.

During installation, the personal protection advice according to the MSDS must be followed. New installers receive training beforehand and are accompanied by a CONICA technician to their first site. After material is cured it is non-hazardous (inert). All products meet the requirements of the EC directive 2004/24/EC.

The floorings feature mechanical properties including friction, shock absorption and sliding properties that support the users and reduce the strain on the joints and also reduces the risk of injuries.






Emissions – There are limited toxics emission to the land through the production of raw materials.

Physical – Product contains recycled rubber which is expected to reduce the physical impact on the landscape. The remainder of the product is made up of polyurethane layers which disrupt local landscapes and ecosystems.


Emissions –Contains a number of ingredients which, if entering the waterways, are harmful or toxic to aquatic life. (Only valid for liquid products, when cured, products are inert)

Physical – During petrochemical extraction, the local landscape including aquatic environments may be impacted. 


Greenhouse gas (GHG) – The product contains polyurethane and rubber components which have high energy requirements and GHG emission in manufacture compared to other resilient flooring systems. Although this is the case, the rubber base contains content from recycled rubber which is expected to reduce some of these GHG impacts.

There were a number of ingredients that were classified as hazardous to aquatic ecosystems with long-lasting effects, were harmful/toxic by inhalation, to the skin and if swallowed or may lead to serious irreversible effects if continuously exposed to a certain ingredient. Other ingredients had less severe impacts including skin and eye irritation as well as causing irritation in the respiratory system. Employees during the manufacturing stages work under both ISO9001 and ISO14001 which would reduce risks and therefore most risks are prevalent during application stages. In order to avoid risks, applicants must follow the guidelines outlined in the MSDSs which cover these risks.Once cured products are inert and are not hazardous / harmful or toxic.
